BIO
Hank Allen-Barfield is a young, up and coming jazz drummer based in New York City. Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Hank picked up the drums at age 10 after being influenced by his father, John Allen, who was a successful professional musician in the nineties.
Hank attended William Paterson University and The Juilliard School for his undergraduate and graduate studies respectively. While in school, he had the opportunity to study with renowned teachers Kenny Washington, Billy Drummond, Bill Charlap, Bill Goodwin, and Joe Farnsworth among others.
As a performer, Hank has had the incredible opportunity to share the stage with many of New York’s great musicians in Samara Joy, Vincent Herring, Jerry Weldon, Bruce Harris, Mike Ledonne, Sarah Hanahan, Jeb Patton, Ray Gallon, Stella Cole, Julius Rodriguez, Neal Miner and a multitude of others. He also regularly leads his own band at famous clubs such Smalls and the Django ands runs a number of jam sessions around town. He has preformed in many of the renown jazz clubs and festivals of New York City and the world such as Smalls, Mezzrow, Smoke Jazz Club, Birdland, Dizzy’s Club and Cola, Cafe Bohemia, the Django, The Jazz Forum, Kennedy Center, Black Cat, Scullers, Pittsburg Jazz Festival, Lake George Jazz Festival, and Monterey Jazz Festival among many others.
